Manchester United FC: What's next for the Carabao Cup Champions?

Finally after a long wait of about six years Manchester United lift their first piece of silverware by defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at the famous Wembley Stadium. In addition to the players there's only one man the red devils fans have to thank and that is their phenomenal manger Mr. Erik Ten Hag.

Since their somewhat shaky start to the season after defeats to both Brighton and Brentford , Manchester United are said to be in a dreamland of a place being the only team still competing in all four of their competitions meaning a slight chance for the quadruple. Securing the Carabao cup has only made them more focused towards achieving this feat. One of the major debates surrounding the English Premier League is whether Manchester United are in a title race. Being only six points off their local rivals Manchester City and eleven points behind the league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand you wouldn't write them off just yet.

Considering the mentality shown by the players especially in their recent knockout tie in the Europa League against the en route La Liga Champions Barcelona, securing a place in the next stages after going a goal down is a clear evidence of the wonders Ten Hag has done with this team. One of the clear differences that can be seen from the last season is that the team is no longer dependent on any individual brilliances from a particular player. Each and every player within the team has a good understanding of their responsibilities and as we can say for the time being, every player is stepping up to the plate. Even the young academy talents like argentinian wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri have been huge revelations and are starting to contribute more and more to the first team as the season progresses.

According to majority of their fanbase one of their main reasons for struggling last season was the team's midfield as the players like Scott Mctominay and Fred were just not enough. But with the signings of the Danish star Christian Eriksen on a free and the Brazilian maestro Casemiro from Real Madrid all problems seem to have been solved. Also ,with the solid centre back partnership of world cup winners Raphael Varane and Lisandro "The Butcher" Martinez the team's defense looks to be much stable than in the previous seasons.

Now back with their eyes on the premier league Manchester United will look to secure three points against their intercity rivals Liverpool this Sunday to give themselves a sort of strong hold in the premier league title race. With the rumors surrounding the club takeover if the Qatari takeover goes through, many pundits think that Ten hag would be provided with the budget to acquire his top transfer targets which would help him to bring back the good old "Sir Alex Days" back when Manchester United were said to be the kings of England.
